Case Study: Benemax

KOGS Positions Benemax for Growth

Benemax-The Benefit Management Company designs innovative consumer-directed health plans that help cash strapped employers hold the line on escalating health insurance costs. Benemax was doing this quietly and without fanfare until retaining KOGS.

The public relations strategy, media relations and speaker program catapulted Benemax onto center stage with articles in the Associated Press, Best’s Review, Boston Business Journal, Crain’s Chicago Business, Christian Science Monitor, Inc., Providence Business News, Mass High Tech, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal’s CareerJournal.com, among other key insurance, health and vertical trade publications. The PR campaign not only helped Benemax build market share and grow 35 percent a year, but also helped made customers and prospects aware of the company’s solid experience, innovative plan designs, exemplary customer service, and claims administration capabilities.

In addition, the PR campaign blunted a barrage of media reports erroneously implicating consumer-directed health plans in increasing employees’ out-of-pocket costs.

Leadership Positioning Helps Drive Sales

An ongoing national award-winning, multifaceted PR campaign for this therapeutics company has helped double sales in each of the four years KOGS planned and executed on PR strategy for the company.

Numerous top-tier media stories and key trade publications continues to reinforce physician commitment to Medivance, and a consistent stream of high-profile stories has created clear leadership positioning for the company and its medical device, which is used in cardiology, neurology, ED and intensive care units.  The product, launched in 2004, continues to garner top print, broadcast and online news coverage, most recently in a New York Times front page story, the ABC World News, and the nationally syndicated CBS health show, The Doctors. Medivance’s Arctic Sun therapeutic cooling device has also been scripted into episodes of ER and House.

KOGS has won numerous prestigious PR industry awards, including the coveted PRSA Silver Anvil Award of Excellence, for this work.

Case Study: Chrismukkah

Creating a New Holiday Tradition.

KOGS Communication, retained in early November, overcame daunting challenges to launch a new company, Chrismukkah, and its line of humorous interfaith holiday cards, achieving extraordinary results that Chrismukkah’s CEO dubbed the company’s own Hanukkah miracle.

KOGS generated well over 2,000 known media placements worldwide, far exceeding the 35-40 expected for an extremely late-in-the-season launch.  Good timing and creative pitches attracted print and broadcast reporters and producers, with media coverage by Good Morning America, FOX-TV News, The Wall Street Journal, Wall St. Journal Radio, and an Associated Press (AP) story that circulated worldwide.

Card sales soared to 10 times projections, and the word “Chrismukkah” was added to the lexicon.  KOGS won a top PRSA award for this consumer campaign.

Case Study: Exeter Hospital

A New Hampshire Hospital Attracts New Patients, Physicians, Wins Lucrative Center
Exeter Hospital gained a competitive advantage as the result of a regional and national PR campaign that enhanced the hospital’s reputation and brought awareness to its services and community outreach programs.

The New Hampshire hospital’s physicians were featured in Tennis Magazine, Ladies’ HomeJournal, New Hampshire Magazine, and many other high-profile media outlets that attracted patients to the hospital and its subsidiaries.  The hospital also successfully recruited physicians in cutting-edge specialties.  And a KOGS PR campaign led to enrolling more patients in an NIH-funded virtual colonoscopy study at little Exeter Hospital than all the other study sites combined – giants Duke, University of Chicago and the University of California-San Francisco.  Exeter Hospital also won a hard-fought two-year battle among four competing hospitals for the area’s only radiation oncology center.
